Reference Letter Guidelines
To the Applicant:
Please provide two references from individuals who can
evaluate your commitment to the nursing profession, your leadership potential,
your scholarship/academic potential, and your contributions (previous or
potential) to the advancement of nursing practice.
One reference must be an academic
reference which may include faculty member, academic advisor or clinical
instructor.
Please advise referees to email completed letters as an attachment
directly to reference@rnfoo.org.
We recommend that you provide your
referees with general information outlining the award(s) or scholarship(s)
for which you are applying.
Please advise your referees to review
the guidelines for reference letters below.

To the Referee:
All letters of reference must be submitted
electronically in MS Word format.
Your letter of reference is
important to the RNFOO Awards & Scholarship Review Process, in order to
evaluate the suitability of this Applicant for an award or scholarship.
Please indicate the period of time and in what capacity you have known the
Applicant. In your letter, please include your candid views of the Applicant
in the following areas:
-demonstrated commitment to the
profession of nursing
-leadership potential
-scholarship/academic potential
-previous contribution and/or
potential to contribute to the advancement of nursing practice
Completed letters should be
emailed as an attachment directly to
reference@rnfoo.org by the referee. Be sure to include the Applicant’s
name in the subject of the email. The email must be sent from the
referee’s professional email address.
