Awards for The Advancement Of Professional Practice In Infection Control?
The Rolling Stones/CPI Awards are funded from a donation representing the
proceeds from the sales of a DVD produced at the time of the Rolling Stones
2003 SARS Benefit Concert in Toronto. The objective of the program is to
support the advancement of professional practice in Infection Control. As
such, the fund provides awards and grants to practicing health professionals
from any discipline to support continuing education, participation in, or
coordination of, conferences, projects (e.g. educational) and conducting
studies/research. RNFOO is responsible for the administration of the awards.
A multi-disciplinary review committee will consider all applications and
determine those awards to be disbursed. Individual candidates may request a
one-time award up to $2,000. Group or organizational candidates may request
a one-time award up to $5,000. In both cases, candidates must attest that
they are not receiving other funding in support of their initiative.
Eligibility Criteria
1. Applications will be reviewed quarterly and must be faxed or
postmarked by January 1, April 1, July 1, or October 1 for each review
process
2. Successful applicants (those receiving funding) will be asked to
participate in a follow up focus group/survey to facilitate ongoing
development and evaluation of this initiative.
3. Applicants awarded funds for studies/research or conference
development/coordination must submit a comprehensive project report at the
conclusion of the project/conference, or annually should the duration of the
project/conference development/coordination extend beyond one year.
Applicants must submit invoices for the amounts outlined in the budget.
4. Reimbursement funding totaling over $500 in each tax year is considered a
taxable benefit. Income tax information will be mailed to successful
recipients as required.
5. Individual to identify other sources of funding in support of the
project.

Applicants must be employed as Health
Professionals in Infection Control in Ontario.
7. Please note: applicants may apply for reimbursement through one of
Funding Programs A, B, or C.
To apply
1. Complete all application criteria noted on the
application form.
2. Attach receipts for all claims (tuition, conference attendance).
3. Provide proof of successful completion of education program or components
of program where applicable, funded through Rolling Stones/CPI Awards.
4. Include your Social Insurance Number for income tax purposes.
Funding Program A
Fund provides awards to individual practicing health
professionals from any discipline to:
i) support continuing education
through tuition reimbursement up to $2,000 per person.
ii) support
conference participation up to $1,500 per person
Candidates must demonstrate how their
course of study, or conference participation, will contribute to advancing
professional practice in Infection Control in their healthcare environment.
The following must be included in the application package:
1. Official proof of payment from educational institution.
2. An official transcript validating successful course completion, or
component of course funded by the scholarship. Overall grade achieved in
education program may be a consideration if there is competition for limited
funding.
3. A one-page letter (12 font, double spaced, 1” margins) describing how you
will use newly acquired knowledge and skills to advance professional
practice in Infection Control.
Funding Program B
Fund provides grants to groups or organizations
for the purpose of developing and coordinating conferences or equivalent
professional development venues that serve to support the advancement of
professional practice in Infection Control. Groups or organizations will be
funded up to $5000.00. The following must be included in the application
package:
1. Project proposal that outlines the project: ,goals, implementation plan,
target audience, detailed budget and plan for evaluating the effectiveness
of the project in advancing professional practice in Infection Control
2. Description of planning group members.
Funding Program C
Fund provides grants to individuals or groups for the
purpose of conducting research aimed at advancing professional practice in
Infection Control. Individuals or teams will be funded up to $5,000.
Proposals must demonstrate how the study will contribute to advancing
professional practice in Infection Control in their health care environment.
The following must be included in the application package.
1. A research proposal that provides the following:
a. Context and literature review
b. Study goals and objectives
c. Methodology
d. Data Analyses
e. Dissemination Plan
f. Description of individual research team members.
