Jennifer Hodder completed her Bachelor of Nursing at Memorial University in Newfoundland in 2004. Humorously, there were two Jennifer Hodders in her class; it was thought she was a typo.

Thankfully, she wasn’t and has been a trauma ICU nurse for 18 years at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, expanding her experience with Trillium Gift of Life, the Critical Care Response Team and as a research coordinator. Inspired by family and friends, she began her graduate journey in 2019 at York University. During the first semester, born from experiences at the bedside, she found her topic of passion, critical care trauma nursing and gun violence. With the support and guidance of Drs. Cheryl van Daalen-Smith, Claire Mallette and Annette Bailey, Jennifer is endeavouring to contributing to nursing knowledge, give back to her fellow hard-working nurses and improve the lives of those affected by gun violence.
