Rola is a doctoral student at the Lawrence S Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing, University of Toronto as well as a practicing nurse practitioner in geriatrics. Rola’s area of clinical interest is gerontological nursing and her research interests focus on interventions to prevent functional and cognitive decline in hospitalized older adults as well as the optimization of transitions to the community and other settings on discharge. Her doctoral work will focus on examining constant observation, a commonly used nursing intervention for acutely ill, cognitively impaired older adults, to determine the characteristics of the intervention, the perceived benefits, and the limitations.
