Sakeenah Syed is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) degree at OntarioTech University, which she expects to complete in 2024. She is a recipient of the Canadian Nurses Foundation COVID-19 People of Colour Award for her outstanding leadership and scholarly contributions towards the nursing profession.

Sakeenah has also volunteered as a crisis counsellor with Naseeha Muslim Mental Health and has worked as a Clinical Nurse Extern at Scarborough Health Network-Centenary Hospital, among other positions. She has dedicated her time to research projects, student associations, and peer support programs, such as the Obesity Educator program at Mavis Medix Clinic.
